500hr requires a minimum of 20 contact hours 

learning objectives
  • describe directional terms, body planes, and terms of movement
  • ​demonstrate knowledge of the axial and appendicular skeleton 
    • anatomy of bone tissue
    • identify all  bones
    • identify and describe the types of joints
  • distinguish between the origins and insertions of muscles 
    • identify muscles and their relationships to specific joints and movements
    • explain the steps of a muscle contraction from propagation to completion
    • apply basic kinesiology to practice
  • describe, in detail, muscle and joint movement in all postures of surya namaskar
  • apply understanding of movement to contraindications for the most common injuries
  • diagram the relationship of the three diaphragms of the body to the bandhas
  • illustrate knowledge of the major organ systems 
    • identify parts of the organ systems
    • explain the function of the organs and their organ systems
    • examine the interconnectedness of the organ systems
  • evaluate the importance of yoga practice (asana, pranayama, and dhyana) on health of the mind and body
  • compose an asana sequence for a specific physical ailment justifying each asana
